South Africa renews its rejection of unilateral US sanctions

Johannesburg (ST): South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor reiterated her country’s rejection of the unilateral sanctions policy pursued by the United States.
Pandor said in an interview with “Sputnik” agency: that her country stressed to the United States of America the need to retreat from the policy of unilateral sanctions imposed, adding: “We always face the problem of unilateral sanctions and their impact on many countries that fall outside a specific conflict . So we have made it clear to the United States, we really want them to back off from imposing these unilateral sanctions, which may not be a useful strategy in resolving crises.
She pointed out, “We saw this with Zimbabwe and Venezuela, and we also see it with Cuba. Although they are unilateral sanctions, they affect many countries that do not enter into conflicts.”
Pandor warned that the bill, which seeks to counter “Russia’s activities” in Africa, violates international law, and said: “This bill must be eliminated because it has no justification whatsoever.”
