Beirut (ST): Former Lebanese Minister Bechara Merhej denounced the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria, stressing the necessity of solidarity, uniting forces, continuing the struggle to lift this unjust siege, and defending Syria in the face of imperialism and Zionism.
Merhej said in a speech in the context of the international Arab popular campaign to lift the siege on Syria: “The Syrian people have the right to enjoy security, stability and peace,” referring to the importance of Syria and its position in relation to the Arab world and the three continents of the world.
Merhej added that no one can bypass Syria or work to marginalize it due to its material capabilities and moral energies derived from its ancient heritage, stressing the need to formulate a unified Arab position to recover the resources and wealth of Syria that are being plundered by the American occupation and its agents in the region.
