Cuban President reiterates his country’s firm support for Syria and its rejection of US sanctions

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel stressed the steadfastness of Cuba’s position in support of Syria, especially in its war against terrorism and against the continuous Israeli aggressions that threaten peace and security in the Middle East and the world.

During a ceremony held for receiving the credentials of Dr. Ghassan Obeid as the Syrian ambassador to Cuba in the presence of Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, President Diaz-Canel expressed his absolute rejection of the unfair measures, restrictions and sanctions imposed by the United States of America, the common enemy, on the Syrian people, stressing that these sanctions aim to obstruct the process of reconstruction and economic development that the Syrian people and government aspire to achieve.

The Cuban president praised the heroism of the Syrian people, army and government in confronting the systematic terrorism supported by the West. He also expressed his appreciation for the honorable stances of Syria in international forums and organizations, and for the continuous support that Cuba receives from Syria.
