Oxfam: British and American weapons, provided to the Saudi-led coalition, killed hundreds of Yemenese

London – A report by the British Oxfam Organization revealed that weapons provided by Britain and the United States to the so-called Saudi-led international coalition against Yemen, have killed at least 87 civilians and wounded 136 others within about 14 months.

The report stated, according to the Associated Press, that the Saudi-led coalition used weapons provided by Britain and the United States in hundreds of attacks on civilians in Yemen between January 2021 and the end of February 2022, as Britain is the second largest supplier of weapons to Saudi Arabia after the United States.

The report indicated that the air raids launched by the coalition led by the Saudi regime, during the aforementioned period, killed at least 87 civilians and wounded 136 others. In addition, at least 19 attacks were carried out against health facilities and ambulances and 293 air strikes forced people to flee, leaving their homes to safer places, the report pointed out.

Martin Butcher, Oxfam’s policy advisor on arms and the author of the report called on the British government to immediately stop selling arms to the Saudi regime and work to reach a permanent ceasefire and hold negotiations to solve the crisis.

During their talks in Sweden on December 13, 2018, the Yemeni parties reached a ceasefire agreement in Al-Hodeidah governorate, and understandings regarding the city of Taiz, but the Saudi aggression forces and their mercenaries continue with their violations of this agreement.
