Syrian Arab army regains control over air-defense barrack outside Damascus—terrorists kill 9 citizens in rocket attacks
PROVINCES, (ST)_A strategic victory has been recorded in the ‘capital Shield’ operation and accurate strikes have been launched in Aleppo and Idlib provinces, while terrorists kill 9 citizens and wound 42 others in mortar and rocket attacks in Damascus and Aleppo provinces.
In details, the Beirut-based al-Mayadeen TV channel reported today that the strategic air-defense barrack in Htatitet al-Terkman area became under the control of the Syrian army which started yesterday the operation of cleansing the area of terrorists.
Imposing control over Htatitet al-Terkman area, located on the Damascus International Airport road, would cut off the route between the western and eastern Ghouta and would complete the restoration of stability and security to Shab’a town , according to the Damascus-based al-Watan newspaper.
Htatitet al-Terkman area is located to the east of Shab’a town in eastern Ghouta.
Not only the eastern Ghouta but also the other flashpoint areas in Damascus countryside (Western Ghouta, al-Qalamon ) are still witnessing fierce fighting between the armed forces and the armed terrorist groups.
‘Accurate’ strikes
As for developments in Aleppo and Idlib provinces, the official news agency said that the armed forces carried out what has been described by a military source as ‘accurate and tailored’ operations against terrorists’ hideouts in towns of al-jadedeh, Kweris, and Rasm al-Abboud in the eastern Aleppo countryside.
It added that operations resulted in destroying rocket launchers and mortar shells as well as a chunk of arms.
The agency quoted a military source as saying that several weaponry-loaded cars were destroyed to the north of Der Hafer and on Aleppo-AlBab road as well as in the industrial city in al-Sheikh Najjar and to the north of al-Sfira town.
More weapons were destroyed and several terrorist groupings were wiped out in towns of al-Debsheyeh, al-Barghethi, Kafr Shlaya, Kafr Jales, Sermin and on the outskirts of Jabal al-Arba’en and Saraqib area in Idlib provinces.
Moreover, the armed forces pounded a hideout of an armed terrorist group and eliminated roughly 30 gangsters, some of Egyptian and Iraqi nationalities, in al-Enqeyeh town outside Hama.
More terrorists were crushed in central Homs province where the armed forces continued pursuing terrorists in Sadad town and raided terrorist groups in quarters of Joret al-Shayah, al-Qarabis and al-Qosor.
Rockets and shells hit Aleppo and Damascus
Regarding terrorist attacks, it was reported that the terrorist groups fired rockets and shells on residential areas in Aleppo, Damascus and Damascus countryside provinces.
At least 6 citizens were martyred and 30 others wounded when 3 rockets hit square of Sa’adallah al-Jaberi in Aleppo city, a police command source said.
Other 7 citizens were wounded by mortar attacks targeted Jaramana city outside Damascus and faculty of science, the old Exhibition city and the surroundings of Sheraton Hotel in the heart of Damascus.
Later on, al-Mayadeen TV channel said that 3 citizens were killed and 5 others wounded when 6 shells landed at al-Abbaseyen square in Damascus.
The foreign-backed terrorist groups daily fire rockets and shells on residential areas nationwide.
The US, Britain, France, Qatar, Turkey and Saudi Arabia support the terrorists who are operating in Syria by all means to serve Israel’s interest in the region.
