Nebenzya: Western sanctions imposed on Syria are the reason behind the deterioration of the humanitarian situation

Moscow, (ST) – Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzya announced that the unilateral Western economic sanctions imposed on Syria are the main reason behind the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the country.

The Novosti Agency quoted Nebenzya as saying during a meeting of the UN Security Council yesterday that Western delegations were talking about their efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to Syria, but they were silent about another embarrassing issue for them, which is the unilateral criminal sanctions that hit the Syrians. He stressed that these sanctions are the main factor to the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Syria.

Nebenzya pointed out that Western countries are deliberately working to deteriorate the situation in Syria in an attempt to destabilize the situation in the country.

The UN Security Council adopted yesterday Resolution 2672, which provides for extending the effects of its Resolution No. 2642 of 2022 regarding the entry of humanitarian aid into Syria for six months.
