Syria condemns violence against government buildings in Brazil, affirms its solidarity with the elected government
Syria has strongly condemned the acts of violence perpetrated by vandals against the headquarters of Congress, the Presidency and the Supreme Court of Brazil, stressing its solidarity with the elected government led by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
“Syria condemns the acts of violence perpetrated by riot groups against government buildings in Brazil and supports the procedures and actions taken by the elected President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to put an end to these acts, which are totally contrary to the values of democracy and respect for the will of the Brazilian people,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stressed on its Twitter account.
The Ministry added that Syria calls for respecting the will of the Brazilian people under the leadership of President Lula and confirms its solidarity with Brazil’s elected Government.
Former President Jair Bolsonaro’s supporters yesterday stormed and damaged government buildings, while President Lula declared a temporary state of emergency, and asked the federal forces to restore security and stability.
