Iranian embassy in Damascus commemorates the third anniversary of the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Soleimani and his companions
Today, the Iranian embassy in Damascus commemorated the third anniversary of the martyrdom of Lieutenant General QassemSoleimani and his companions, through an event entitled (He will remain immortal), at the Al-Assad National Library in Damascus.
President Bashar Al-Assad was represented in the event by the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, who said in a speech: “Syria will not forget this generous man who left his imprint during the course of his work on every corner of the pillars of resistance.”
Minister Al-Khalil said : “The martyr Soleimani was an exceptional leader, who was always in the first ranks in any military or humanitarian work, , in addition to his humility, which he was known for, and his diplomacy – he believed in the importance of striving to build good relations between the countries and people of the region.”
For his part, the Iranian ambassador to Damascus, Mahdi Sobhani, confirmed in a speech that the commemoration of the martyrdom of Soleimani is a revival of a school, thought and principle, because his approach is an example that guides all the fighters who sacrifice what is precious in order to achieve freedom, honor and independence for their homelands.
Ambassador Sobhani referred to the great role of the martyr Soleimani and the rise of the resistance that he organized in thwarting the American and Zionist projects.
Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (General Command), Dr. Talal Naji, shed light on the life and journey of the martyr Soleimani, his characteristics and his thoughts.
The event included the screening of films about the struggle of the martyr Soleimani and the sayings of a number of his leaders, in addition to patriotic songs glorifying martyrdom and martyrs from the Lebanese band (Izar), and a number of martyrs’ families were honored.
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Defense, General Mahmoud Shawa, the representative of Imam Khamenei in Syria, Sheikh Hamid Saffar Al-Harandi, the Director of the Consular and Expatriate Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Tammam Suleiman, the Chairman of the Syrian Arab People’s Committee for Supporting the Palestinian People and Resisting the Zionist Project, Dr. Saber Falhout, and the Director General of the International Quds Foundation – Syria, Dr. Khalaf al-Muftah, a number of ambassadors and members of diplomatic missions accredited to Damascus, leaders and representatives of Palestinian factions.
Lieutenant General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, deputy head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, and their companions were martyred following an American air strike that targeted their car on the road to Baghdad Airport on January 3, 2020.
