Former Editor-in-Chief of Al-Ahram: Solidarity Initiative to Break Siege on Syrian People

Journalist Mohamed Abdel-Hadi Allam, former editor-in-chief of the Egyptian Al-Ahram newspaper, confirmed that the honorable initiative of solidarity with Syria comes as part of an international Arab campaign to lift the blockade and sanctions, as a continuation of the struggle of the brotherly Syrian people to liberate their land and eradicate terrorism.

In a letter addressed to Al-Thawra newspaper, Allam added that all Western attempts to subjugate Syria will not succeed, adding that he wrote in Al-Ahram newspaper during the years 2015 and 2016 articles of solidarity and defense of Syria’s war against terrorism on behalf of its nation, under the title: “Here is Damascus, from Cairo.”

Allam noted that thanks to the steadfastness of the Syrian people and the exposure of the false headlines of western war with the participation and complicity of Arab parties against it, the base of solidarity and defense of Syria has widened. However there are still parties endeavoring to fuel sedition in Syria and  refuse to accept its victory by a great leadership and people, its steadfastness, its refusal to surrender, and its eradication  of the  American Middle Eastern building Project with a pseudo-Islamic indications.

The former editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram concluded his speech by saying: From here comes the honorable initiative of solidarity with Syria these days as part of an international Arab campaign to lift the siege and the unjust sanctions. From Cairo I say here is Damascus, and I feel proud of this initiative in commitment to our central Arab issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause and in defense of our second star in the flag of the unity of Egypt and Syria.
