Syrian Arab army starts cleansing Htaitet alTerkman town of terrorists—terrorists target school students
PROVINCES,(ST)_The operation of cleansing Htaitet alTerkman town, in the eastern Ghouta of Damascus, of foreign-backed terrorists has begun amid reports of eliminating several ringleaders belonging to the ‘Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant’ (ISIL) in Lattakia province.
A military source declared today that the armed forces advanced in cracking down on terrorists in Htaitet alTerkman town and crushed large numbers.
This advance came just few days after the declaration of scoring progress in the ongoing battles in al-Qalamoun and al-Moaddameyeh areas outside Damascus. It also synchronized with fierce fighting in the surrounding of Thameco Company at the entry of al-Mleha area and in restive suburbs of Jobar, Barzeh, Harasta, Duma, Yabroud and surroundings of Ma’aloula town.
4 ISIL’s ringleaders killed
On the other hand, the armed forces eliminated an unknown number of terrorists, some of Arab nationalities, and destroyed several arms dumps in northern Lattakia countryside.
The official news agency said: “Units of the armed forces targeted terrorist groupings in towns of al-Kabir, Zahi, al-Soda and al-Foronloq reservation where big number of terrorists died.”
It announced names of four ringleaders from the ISIL, carrying Palestinian, Tunisian, Iraqi, and Egyptian nationalities, and other terrorists of Lebanese, Jordanian, Moroccan, and Libyan nationals, among the dead.
More terrorists were reportedly killed when the armed forces struck their groupings, hideouts and weapons-laden cars in more than 14 locations in Homs, Aleppo and Idlib provinces.
The armed forces, in addition, continued warding off terrorists’ bid to infiltrate into safe areas in Aleppo city and repelled an attack on Taldo Hospital in Homs province.
Mortar and rocket attacks kill 3, wound 33
In a separate incident, it was said that 7 shells landed on Jaramana suburb outside Damascus and several rockets hit al-Waer and al-Zahraa quarters and Ein al-Dananir town in Homs province.
Two shells hit Schools of ‘Nazih Monzer’ and ‘Fayez Sa’ed’ in al-Rawda alley in Jaramana suburb, around 8km to the south-east of the capital [Damascus].
At least 3 citizens were martyred and 32 others (including a teacher and 14 students) wounded in the attacks.
The shells and rockets were fired by terrorists.
Not only citizens were victims of terrorist acts today but also a media team who was wounded by detonation of an explosive device- planted by terrorists- on Khanaser-Aleppo road.
Al-Mayadeen TV channel reporter in Aleppo was among the wounded.
