Syrian Foreign Participations in Economic, Educational, Development and Health Conferences and Events in 2022
During the year 2022, Syria participated distinctly in a number of Arab and international events, conferences and exhibitions directly or virtually, which contributed to strengthening Syria’s return to international activity in various sectors, despite the difficulties imposed by the unjust war and the economic blockade imposed on it.
In the field of Education:
– On 9 February, Syria participated in the 13th International Conference on Higher Education in Cuba.
-On May 31, the Ministry of Education participated in Virtual regional consultations for the Arab region and West Asia on key elements in the transformation of education.
– On 16 September: At the invitation addressed to President Bashar al-Assad from the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres to participate in the Education Transformation Summit, Syria participated in the summit with a government educational delegation.
– On 10 October: Members of the teaching staff, heads of departments and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Medicine of Damascus University and the University Hospitals of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research participated in the first Russian-Syrian Conference on Health “Ibn Sina Road”, held in Moscow, during which a number of cooperation agreements were signed between the Syrian Ministry of Higher Education and Moscow University.
– On 10 November, the young Syrian girl Sham Al-Bakour was crowned the champion of the Arab Reading Challenge so surpassing more than 22 million participants from 44 countries. Syria participated for the first time in the sixth edition of the competition. A number of students from Syrian schools also participated at the Syrian level, with more than one stage of qualification.
– On 13 November, the Ministry of Education participated in the World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
-On 29 November, the Ministry participated in a virtual meeting of the Ministers of Education of the member States of the Non-Aligned Movement on education challenges related to (Covid 19).
-On December 6, Syria, represented by the University of Damascus, participated in the International Conference on the fiftieth anniversary of the Convention for the Protection of the World’s Cultural and Natural Heritage in Kazan, Russia, through research works on the Silk Road and the historic city of Palmyra.
In the field of Administrative Development:
-On March 28, the Ministry of Administrative Development participated in the “Government Women” Forum held in Dubai, in preparation for the eighth session of the World Summit of Governments.
-On March 29, the Ministry participated in the eighth session of the World Summit of Governments held in Dubai.
In the field of Public Works and Housing:
-On 26 June, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing participated in the 11th World Urban Forum in Poland.
-On 3 October, the Ministry participated in the 4th annual conference of the Urban Economy Forum, held in Toronto, Canada.
In the field of Communications and Technology:
– on June 1, the Ministry of Communications and Technology participated virtually in the ministerial round table discussions held within the Global Information Forum held in Geneva.
– On September 26, the Ministry participated in the work of the Conference of Delegates of the International Telecommunication Union (ITUPP22), which was held at the Parliament Palace in the Romanian city of Bucharest.
In the field of Law:
– On 30 June, the Ministry of Justice participated in the 10th International Law Forum held in Saint Petersburg, Russia, with the participation of more than 90 countries.
In the field of Water Resources:
– On June 7, the Ministry of Water Resources participated in the Second International Conference of the International Decade of Action on Water, for Sustainable Development 2018-2028 in Tajikistan in cooperation with the United Nations.
In the field of Health:
– On 24 January, the Ministry of Health participated in the work of the 150th session of the WHO Executive Council in Geneva.
-On 22 May, Syria participated in the work of the 75th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva.
-On 11 October, the Ministry of Health participated in the 69th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, held in Cairo under the theme “Together for a Sustainable Tomorrow and Greater Health”.
In the field of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform:
-On February 7, the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform participated in a meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
-On 23 May, the Ministry participated in the opening of the 89th session of the International Agricultural Exhibition held in the Serbian city of Novi Sad.
-On 28 July, the Four-sided Arab Agricultural Ministerial Meeting was held in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, in which the Ministers of Agriculture of Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq took part.
-On 26 September, the Ministry participated in meetings held between the Ministers of Agriculture of Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon in Jordan’s capital, Amman.
-On 25 November, the Ministry participated in the Third World Ministerial Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance held in the Sultanate of Oman.
In the field of Exhibitions:
-On 30 March, the Syrian pavilion in Expo 2020 Dubai received the gold award for best content incarnation. The exhibition opened in September 2021 with the participation of 192 countries, including Syria.
– On 5 April, the Syrian student pavilion was ranked first in the competitive student exhibition in Slovakia, organized by the University of Economics in the Slovak capital Bratislava with the participation of 30 student delegations from the world’s countries.
– On May 9, Syria participated in the events of the Arab Travel Market Exhibition, held in Dubai in cooperation with the World Trade Center in Dubai. The Syrian pavilion included several participations for international hotels, tourism and travel offices, the Syrian Transport and Tourism Company and some private companies, as well as the pavilion of Cham Wings Airlines.
-On 1 September, Syria participated in the China Trade and Services Fair in the Chinese capital Beijing. The Syrian pavilion included mosaic, Syrian fabrics, cosmetic products, laurel soap, Damascene rose perfume, olive oil and Syrian desserts. Plastic artist Walid Ali also participated with his most important paintings in the Syrian pavilion.
-On September 21, Syria participated in the 16th Iran Plast International Exhibition, held at the permanent site of the Tehran International Exhibition.
-On 15 November, Syria participated in the Havana International Fair at its thirty-eighth session, with the participation of 62 States, including Syria.
-On December 7, Syria participated in the first session of the Abu Dhabi International Food Fair through a pavilion organized by the General Organization for International Exhibitions and Fairs.
-On 27 December, Syria participated in the exhibition (made in Syria) on the ground of the Baghdad International Fair, with the participation of 100 Syrian industrial, agricultural, commercial and health companies.
