Two masses in the Maronite Diocese and the Church of Our Lady of Fatima for the Syriac Catholics to celebrate glorious Christmas
Within the framework of the Christian denominations’ celebrations in Syria of Christmas on December 25th, a mass was held at St Anthony’s Church, the “Maronite Archdiocese” in Damascus, headed by Father Maroun Touma.
In his homily, Father Touma referred to the lofty and great meanings of Christmas and its values that call for love, goodness, peace and supplication for the coming days of Syria to be better.
In the Church of Our Lady of Fatima for the Syriac Catholics, Archbishop Mar John Jihad Battah, the Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Damascus, presided over the Christmas mass.
In his homily, Bishop Battah indicated that the Syrians were steadfast thanks to their adherence to their belonging to their country despite the pains, difficulties and unjust siege imposed on them.
Bishop Battah said: “By the grace of God and the rallying of our people around our heroic army and leadership, we will overcome the effects of the terrorist war and we will rebuild our homeland despite all that happened.”
He called on God to make the coming days full of goodness and that security and safety prevail throughout Syria.
