Minister of Interior, Head of UNHCR Mission discuss cooperation to facilitate the return of the displaced

On December 21st, Minister of Interior, Major General Muhammad Al-Rahmon and head of the UNHCR mission in Syria Sivanka Dana Bala discussed joint cooperation between the two sides in order to provide services to citizens.

Al-Rahmoun indicated that the Syrian state continues to strengthen and develop cooperation with UNHCR and facilitate its work in line with its international obligations, laws and national sovereignty.

He said that the Ministry has provided all the necessary facilitations to secure the voluntary return of the displaced to their homeland, as it allowed the entry of the displaced with any document proving that they are citizens of the Syrian Arab Republic and issued personal documents for those who lost them at the border posts.

For his part, head of the mission stressed the need to continue coordination and cooperation with the Syrian government, to ensure that the hoped for goals of the commission’s work are achieved.

He hailed the Syrian state’s efforts to facilitate the return of the displaced to their homeland.
