Tehran, (ST) – A media delegation led by Ahmed Dhawa, Assistant Minister of Information, on Wednesday discussed with Ali Karimian, Secretary General of the Union of Islamic Radios and Televisions in Tehran, means of developing media relations between Syria and Iran in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.
During the meeting, Dhawa reviewed mechanisms of cooperation between the Syrian and Iranian media and proposed new cooperation initiatives to enhance joint work between them.
He pointed to the importance of training on new media methods in publishing news and media content in the service of the region’s issues and to confront the misleading Western media.
For his part, Karimian stressed the important role played by the Syrian media in confronting the misleading propaganda during the terrorist war waged on Syria.
Karimian reviewed the role of the Islamic Radio and Television Union in assisting member states in developing their media capabilities.
The two sides expressed hope that they will develop media cooperation to greater levels.
In a related context, the media delegation discussed with Director General of IRNA News Agency Ali Naderi mechanisms of cooperation between the Syrian and Iranian media outlets and ways to enhance joint work, especially cooperation between the news agencies (SANA and IRNA).
The delegation also discussed means of cooperation in the technical field, in exchanging news and training courses and in qualifying and training journalists.
Dhawa stressed the importance of training on new media methods in puishing news and media content regarding regional issues. He called for strengthening media cooperation between Syria and Iran to confront Western media campaigns against the two countries and peoples.
For his part, Naderi expressed his willingness to cooperate with the Syrian media outlets, especially SANA, to enhance joint work. He also expressed his desire to work on developing news programs for SANA, provided that this is studied within the frameworks of joint cooperation between the two agencies and through the memorandum of undrestanding on cooperation signed between the two sides.
During the meeting, representatives of a number of Syrian media outlets talked about the situation of work in these outlets and about the challenges they faced during the years of the terrorist war on Syria.
The Syrian media delegation arrived in Tehran yesterday at the invitation of the Islamic Radio and Television Union to hold meetings with a number of Iranian media officials in order to enhance media cooperation between the two countries.
