Chinese Foreign Ministry: Washington should stop using NATO to dominate the world

Beijing, (ST) – The Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed the need for the United States of America to stop using the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as a means of world domination, and to abandon the Cold War mentality.

Commenting on accusations made by US Ambassador to NATO Julianne Smith against Russia and China, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a press briefing on Wednesday that  China has always remained committed to maintaining peace, stability and prosperity around the world, and the other party concerned must stop false accusations against it and stop calling for confrontation and creating imaginary enemies.

She added that Washington should  stop using NATO as a tool to maintain hegemony and undermine peace and should abandon the Cold War mentality.

Julianne Smith said earlier that the United States is worried about the possibility of Russia and China exchanging means and strategies aimed at undermining NATO unity.
