A celebration on Arbor Day at the Martyrs’ Garden in Hasakah

Hasakah , (ST) – Hasakah City Council in cooperation with the Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform carried out an afforestation campaign at the “Martyrs’ Garden” in the city of Hasakah, to celebrate Arbor Day.

During his participation in afforestation campaign, the Governor of Hasakah, Dr. Louay Sayoh, stressed the importance of planting forest trees in parks and fairways in beautifying  the city.

He pointed out that the afforestation process comes within the framework of the celebration on Abor Day to restore the vegitation that has been lost as a result of terrorism and acts of vandalism that affected forest parks.

The Head of the Hasakah City Council, Eng. Adnan Khajo, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the council planted 200 forest trees in the Martyrs’ Garden located in front of the Edward Iwas School as part of the organizational plan of the City Council. The garden was equipped with a water well that works on alternative energy to ensure that the trees are watered.

Khajo pointed out that the goal of this work is to restore the vegetation of the gardens, especially as they were subjected to attacks and unjust cutting, and to give beauty to the city.

For his part, Director of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Ali Al-Khalouf indicated that the aim of celebrating Arbor Day is to remind the importance of the tree and to work to plant more trees to restore vegetation. He called on the local and civil society to cooperate and work to protect the forest plants that are being planted, and to prevent anyone from harming the gardens, as they belong to all citizens.
