Opening a Christmas Cave and education rooms at the Roman Catholic Church of St. Elias in Hama

Hama (ST) – On the occasion of Christmas and the New Year, the Roman Catholic Church of St. Elias in Kafr Buhum town in the countryside of Hama inaugurated the Christmas cave and the third floor of it as an education rooms in the presence of the Patriarch Youssef I Absi, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East of Melkite Roman Catholics.

Official, religious, and popular personalities also attended the inauguration ceremony.

The pastor of the Roman Catholic Church in Kfar Buhum Father Nabil Nader said in a statement to SANA that the opening of the Christmas cave is a tradition that has been practiced in the town for 15 years.

He indicated that the cave contains figures symbolizing Jesus Christ, Virgin Mary and a number of saints, in addition to decorations, lamps, and balloons in various colors.

 The church is witnessing a high turnout of visitors and will continue to open its doors until the first week of next month.

One of the residents of Kafr Buhum pointed out that the cave is part of the families’ heritage in the village during the Christmas period. The opening of the Christmas cave came after preparations and arrangements over a period of days to spread joy and happiness in the hearts of its visitors.

The inauguration of the Christmas cave was attended by the governor of Hama, Dr. Mahmoud Zanboua, the Secretary of Hama branch of the Ba’ath Arab Socialist Party, Eng. Ashraf Bashouri and Archbishop John Arbish of the Roman Catholic Church in Homs and Hama.
