Homs (ST) – The Forestry Department in Homs Agricultural Directorate carried out an afforestation campaign in the Martyr’s Cemetery in Al-Zahraa neighborhood, which included planting 1,000 forest saplings.
The head of the department, Eng. Amer Shaaban, explained in a statement to SANA that saplings of laurel, cypress, logstrom, carob, and andrecht were planted. He pointed out that the afforestation campaign in the Martyr’s Cemetery comes in appreciation of the sacrifices of the nation’s martyrs and in commemoration of their memory.
Shaaban stressed that to date, 13 thousand forest saplings have been sold since the start of sales for the current season. He pointed out that the department also distributes five forest saplings for free to each rural family.
Homs Agricultural Department carried out two afforestation campaigns in Al-Shumaria and Asilat al-Harajiyin sites, within the framework of the current season’s plan, which includes planting 112 hectares with 60,000 forest saplings in seven locations.
