Al-Mikdad, Al-Bishri stress need to enhance cooperation among Arab countries affected by climate change
On December 19th, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Mikdad, and the Minister of Agriculture and Forests of the Republic of Sudan, Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bishri, stressed the importance of cooperation amog Arab countries affected by climate change.
The two ministers referred to the role of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) in enhancing this cooperation, exchanging agricultural experiences, encouraging the establishment of joint projects in the fields of environmental protection, combating climate change, drought and dust storms and combating desertification.
Minister Al-Mikdad talked about the catastrophic impacts of the terrorist war on Syria, and the negative effects it has left on various economic sectors, particularly the agricultural sector.
He referred to the negative effects of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States and the European Union on the Syrian people and of the US continuous looting of Syria’s resources.
In turn, Minister Al-Bishri drew attention to Sudan’s initiative for food security and the efforts of the Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in sustainable development.
He expressed his hope for strengthening and developing the capabilities of the Arab Center for the Study of Arid Zones and Dry Lands, and for benefitting from the experiences of the two countries in the agricultural sector and sustainable development.
