Aleppo (ST): With the participation of 100 women, the activities of the Creative Women’s Handicrafts Exhibition, organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), opened on Sunday at the Shahba Hotel, Aleppo.
The exhibition includes handmade products such as woolen handicrafts, embroideries, crochet, clothing, decorative accessories, traditional jewelry, woodwork, and painting on pottery and glass.
In a statement to news correspondent, the creative project manager, Muhammad Qassab, stated that the project targeted talented women with handicrafts in Aleppo, including sewing and embroidery, wool, tools, and decorative accessories to improve their livelihoods by working to improve the quality of their products, providing them with raw materials, grants, and providing them with technical expertise and training throughout the implementation period. The project reached the stage of marketing by holding exhibitions.
Abeer Ammar, Creative Project Assistant, indicated that the two-day exhibition aims to empower participating women economically, as they make their products at home to market them later through sales outlets and exhibitions, in order to help them economically and promote sustainable development by creating job opportunities for women.
