The General Assembly adopts, by majority, a resolution affirming the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination
New York (ST): The United Nations General Assembly adopted by majority a resolution affirming the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.
Palestinian Wafa Agency stated that 168 countries voted in favor of the resolution, compared to 6 countries that voted against it, while 8 countries abstained from voting.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki affirmed that the majority adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of a resolution supporting the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination is nothing but confirmation of the justice of the Palestinian cause and the failure of the Israeli occupation entity.
Al-Maliki called on the countries that voted against the resolution or those that abstained from voting in favor of it to review their positions, considering that their opposition represents a gross violation of the principles of international law, and makes them partners in the crime of colonialism and other crimes against humanity committed by the occupation authorities against the Palestinians.
