With the participation of 70 artisans and producers, the activities of the Christmas market kicked off on the old fairgrounds in Damascus

Damascus (ST): In celebration of the Christmas and New Year holidays, the activities of the Christmas market, which is being held by the Syrian Crafts Company, were launched  on  the old fairgrounds in Damascus, with the participation of 70 craftsmen and producers from various Syrian governorates.

The market, which takes place over a period of 15 days, is accompanied by artistic activities, entertainment, performances and parties for children and adults, in addition to raffles for the distribution of gifts. The World Cup final will also be shown in the exhibition through a large screen.

Minister of State for Southern Region Development Affairs Dr. Diala Barakat said in a press statement that the market combines many traditional handicrafts within wooden houses in order to document and support them. It is also an opportunity for citizens to visit it, enjoy its atmosphere and buy organic products at reasonable prices.

In a similar statement, the Governor of Damascus, Eng. Tariq Krishati, stated that the exhibition constitutes an important opportunity for artisans to highlight, introduce and market their products, because the handmade products are meticulously made and with high taste that show the skill and creativity of the Syrian artisan for hundreds of years and constitute a title and memory of Damascus, and express the craftsmen’s adherence to the authentic heritage and its preservation.

Christmas is a message of love and peace, and an affirmation of strengthening the bonds of brotherhood among the people of the Syrian society, and of drawing joy and smiles on the faces of children.

The craftsmen participating in the market explained to   news reporter that the market is an opportunity for them to introduce their products and open a wider field for marketing them, considering that communicating with customers directly helps them to introduce the product and its advantages.

Honey, pomegranate molasses, carob, olive oil and rose water products have a special place in the exhibition, as they are 100% natural products of high quality made with skilled hands according to the craftsman Nasser Hatoum from Lattakia Governorate, pointing out that the Syrian Crafts Company was the first supporter of the development and marketing of his products, especially honey .
