Artist Rania Rehawi focuses on the female in her paintings and sculptural works

“Art is culture and thought.  It is very important in our life because it represents the aesthetic aspect of life which I believe that it is an incomplete painting without art. Art is inside my soul and a reflection of my personality” the artist Rania Rehawi said in an interview with the Syriatimes e-newspaper.

The artist, Rehawi, who is from the city of Lattakia, reviewed her passion for art, which began at an early age, when she entered school, as she preferred drawing and handicraft classes rather than science and geography.

Rehawi, who graduated from the Fine Arts Center in Lattakia, Department of Oil Painting and Sculpture, tends to embody various topics through her paintings especially those related to women.

“The female enjoys a very special place in my heart  as the first person I saw in my life was my mother, I dedicate the female side, and the state of motherhood in my paintings and sculptures. I feel proud when I shed light on the role of the female in life in general and in art in particular” she expressed.

The female, according to Rehawi, is distinguished by the internal and external beauty, in addition to sincerity and delicate feelings, sublimity and sophistication.

In order to enhance her ability in sculptural work, Rehawi studied at the Institute of Applied Arts, Department of Sculpture, where she was passionate about making sculptures of parts of the face and later made a statue of the goddess of beauty Venus , Picasso , a sculpture about motherhood, another a painting of a landscape, and a fourth of a female figure.

The artist , who became a member of the Plastic Artists Union, participated in many exhibitions and art forums, including the exhibitions “Space and Color”, “Stars of a Homeland”, “Basmat Watan” and “Zakaria Shriqi”, the Syrian culture days in addition to her permanent participation in the two annual exhibitions of the branch of Plastic Artists Union in Lattakia and the Applied  Art Center .

“My artworks belong to several schools of art, including realism, expressionism, abstraction, and impressionism, but I prefer abstraction and expressionism because I have a free space without restrictions, and my brush takes its range freely” Rehawi said.

She called for spreading the culture of art through adopting and supporting the talents to develop the plastic art movement .

“I have faith in myself and my art. I do not search for absolute perfection, but rather for the best. Whenever I finish a work of art, I have an obsession and ambition to prove myself more in the world of art. As long as the talent exists, the artist must develop himself more” the artist Rehawi concluded.
