Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad and the World Food Program’s (WFP) Regional Director for Middle East and Northern Africa Corinne Fleischer on Thursday discussed developments related to food security in the region and the world as well as the impacts of terrorism and international crises on securing food in different parts of the world.
During their meeting today, Al-Mikdad and Fleischer reviewed issues related to the WFP’s activities in Syria and means to exert more efforts in this regard as to confront the challenges facing the Syrian people and delivery of aid to those who need away from politicization.
Al-Mikdad stressed that the United Nations should play an effective role in halting the US occupation forces’ violations and acts of looting the Syrian oil and wealth in the Syrian Al- Jazira region and in exposing Western sanctions and practices which have caused direct and indirect losses at $100 billion to the Syrian people.
Al-Mikdad affirmed that the Syrian government will spare no effort as to secure the Syrians’ needs and to provide all facilitations for the work of international organizations operating in the country with the aim of to meetung the Syrians’ needs and achieving the goals of development and early recovery in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the Security Council and the UN.
For his part, Fleischer reviewed the WFP’s latest activities and projects carried out in Syria, and some of the plans it is implementing to ensure the delivery of aid to those who need.
