Serbian President: We hope that Syria will return as soon as possible to exercise its pioneering role in the region and the world

Belgrade (ST): Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stressed the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, expressing his hope that Syria would overcome the difficulties it is going through and embark on the path of recovery and prosperity.

This came as the Serbian President accepted the credentials of Bassem Jamaan Agha as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Republic of Serbia.

President Vucic hoped that the cooperation between the two friendly countries and peoples would gain new momentum and strength through the appointment of ambassadors, stressing that the relations between the two countries are based on mutual respect and friendship, that dates back to the time of the former Yugoslavia, and on the effective and joint contribution to the Non-Aligned Movement.he affirmed that there is an ample room for strengthening bilateral relations in all fields.

President Vucic thanked Syria for its principled and continuous support for preserving Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, indicating his great respect for Syria, its deep-rooted civilization and its people, and wishing it to return as soon as possible to exercising its pioneering role in the region and the world.

The Serbian President asked Agha to convey his warm greetings to President Bashar Al-Assad.

In turn, Ambassador Jamaan Agha conveyed the greetings of President Al-Assad to President Vucic and to all the friendly people of Serbia, his wishes of further development and prosperity to Serbia and his appreciation for his good feelings towards Syria, its people and its leadership.

Ambassador Jamaan Agha gave a presentation on the situation in Syria, referring to the suffering of the Syrian people as a result of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by some Western countries, led by the United States of America, against them and the theft of their resources of oil and wheat in the areas occupied by the American forces in cooperation with the separatist (SDF) militia, in addition to the continued support of terrorist organizations in Syria by those countries.
