Syrian-Iranian talks on enhancing academic and scientific research cooperation

On December 12th, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, met with the Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Ali Reza Beekdli, and the accompanying delegation.

The two sides discussed the scientific and research cooperation relations between Syria and Iran, and the continuous coordination between universities, colleges and university hospitals of both countries.

Minister Ibrahim indicated the important role of the education and health sector in developing relations between the two countries which share common issues.

He expressed the appreciation of the Syrian government to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s leadership and people, for supporting the Syrian people in various fields.

He stressed the importance of the agreements signed between the Syrian and Iranian universities and the need to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields and to benefit from the developments that Iran is witnessing at the scientific and research level.

He gave an overview of the situation of higher education in Syria and university hospitals that provide medical, therapeutic and training services.

In turn, Bekdli praised the distinguished relations between the two countries, which are booming day by day in various fields, especially in the educational field.

He pointed to the need to hold continuous meetings to exchange ideas and visions on facilitating the issues of the Syrian and Iranian students, and to benefit from the exchanging of professors and students and the holding of conferences.
