Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad on Monday received Chairman of the Palestinian National Council Rawhi Fattuh and the accompanying delegation.
The two sides discussed devopments in the region, particularly in Palestine in the light of the Israeli occupation’s continous crimes and violations of international legitimacy resolutions and the Palestinian people’s rights.
Al-Mikdad condemned the Israeli occupation’s practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, including demolishing houses and schools, building illegal settlements, killing the Palestinian children and innocent people who resist the occupation, stressing that these practices amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity. He reaffirmed Syria’s firm support for Palestine and for the Palestinian cause.
Al-Mikdad hailed the role of parliamentary diplomacy in mobilizing international support for peoples’ causes and in enhancing contacts at all levels. He noted the need to join efforts as to expose the crimes of the Israeli occupation, urging unity among the Palsetinian forces in the confrontation of challenges.
For his part, Fattuh expressed happiness for visiting Syria, asserting that Syria has always been a true supporter for Palestine and for the Palestinian cause.
He reiterated the importance of continued consultations and coordination between Syria and Palestine and the countries supporting the Palestinian cause and the struggle of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate rights and establish the independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.
