Al-Miqdad discusses with Bekdali the relations of consular cooperation between Syria and Iran

On December 11th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, discussed with the Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs, Ali Reza Beekdli, the relations of cooperation between the two countries, and ways to enhance them to face common challenges.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in Damascus, the two sides discussed ways to develop relations between Syria and Iran in all fields, including the consular field, in a way that contributes to confronting the pressure and blackmail practiced by Western countries against independent countries and developing countries of the world to implement their distorted agendas and goals. 

The two sides condemned the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by the United States of America and the European Union on Syria and Iran, through which they target the citizens of the two countries in their daily lives. 

Minister Miqdad affirmed Syria’s steadfast and supportive position on the Islamic Republic of Iran, praising the wisdom of the Iranian leadership in dealing with the recent events in the Iranian arena.

In turn, Bekdley expressed his appreciation for the Syrian position in solidarity with his country, and his thanks to the people and the Syrian leadership, praising the level of cooperation and regular consultation between the two countries

He stressed the importance of continuing to confront attempts to interfere in their internal affairs and coordinating their common positions, and the need to continue strengthening and developing strategic bilateral relations in various economicscientific, cultural and consular fields. 

Bekdli also held a session of talks with the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Ayman Sousan, within the framework of the work of the joint consular committee between the two countries. 

The meeting was attended from the Syrian side by Ambassador Tammam Suleiman, Director of the Consular and Expatriates Department, Ambassador Muhammad Haj Ibrahim, Director of the International Legal and (Water) Department, Hussein Abdel Aziz from the Minister’s Office, and from the Iranian side, Dr. Mahdi Sobhani, Iran’s Ambassador to Damascus, and a number of officials of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
