Tractors, loaders and financial grant at SYP 625 million in support for villages affected by fires in Lattakia and Tartous

Administrative units in Lattakia and Tartous provinces were handed over 25 tractors, two loaders as well as a financial grant of 625 million Syrian pounds for carrying out development and agricultural projects in the areas affected by fires in these two provinces.

125 villages and farms in 25 administrative units will benefit from the equipment and the financial grant that will help provide public services like transportation, plowing, securing water and other agriculture-related services.

During his meeting with heads of the administrative units benefitting from the grant, Minister of Local Administration and Environment Hussein Makhlouf said “in implementation of President Bashar Al-Assad’s directives in allocating a grant to the villages affected by fires, these tractors are provided and can a kind of development projects that serve the affected families in these villages”.

He added that providing an additional financial grant of 625 million Syrian pounds to the governorates of Lattakia and Tartous aims at enabling the municipalities to benefit from the tractors the best way through manufacturing some helping accessories according to the need.

Makhlouf told reporters that the state has approved an integrated program for carrying out development projects and for restoring production in the affected villages, clarifying that this program has been implemented on stages starting with financial compensation and material assistance for the affected families, providing saplings and carrying out development projects in cooperation with the Syria Trust for Development.
