General Directorate of Ports: Granting 9 licenses for new investments in marine property

The marine public property investments for the year 2022 witnessed an important development, with many of them entering the production process such as a workshop for the maintenance and manufacture of boats in the port of Baniyas and the implementation of the first floating marine farm.

In this connection other investments also included the auction contracts signed with the General Directorate of Ports of the Yacht Club in Lattakia and the fish farm in Jableh region, in addition to the granting of 9 licenses for new investments this year, according to the Director General of Ports, Brigadier General Eng. Samer Kobrosly.

He told SANA reporter that the revenues of the General Directorate of Ports for the year 2022 from seasonal investment exceeded 97 million SP, while the value of revenues from temporary investment is estimated at more than 1.3 billion SP.

As for the services provided by the one-stop shop at the directorate’s headquarters, Kobrosly clarified that it organizes the work of the Maritime Labor and Professions Department and facilitates the performance of its tasks, which include granting work documents to sailors in addition to Maritime Service Certificates that document marine services for sailors.

He added the tasks of the department also include granting and renewing licenses for marine professions, supervising and organizing their work in the areas of maritime navigation, safety management for ships, collecting solid and liquid waste and providing technical advice and maritime services.

The other services offered by the Maritime Labor and Professions Department also include, according to Kobrosly, collecting solid and liquid waste and providing technical advice and marine services.

It is noteworthy that the Directorate granted 8,350 sailors’ books, in addition to 3,296 marine service documents and 435 marine tickets, from the beginning of 2022 until mid-November.
