Daraa (ST) – The Syrian Arab Red Crescent branch and the Family Planning Association in Daraa governorate organized two activities on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).
According to the head of the branch, Dr. Ahmad Al-Masalmeh, the volunteers of the Red Crescent, within the mini-social care center in the town of Khirbet Ghazaleh, provided recreational activities as well as motion and interactive games for children, in addition to an awareness session to introduce children’s rights and duties.
Al-Masalmeh indicated in a statement to SANA that the Red Crescent branch annually celebrates the International Children’s Day and the IDPD with children, with the aim of supporting them, giving the children an opportunity to express themselves and helping them know their rights.
The head of the Family Planning Association branch Nujud Khalil stated that the Center for the Support and Empowerment of Women (The Safe Space) in coordination with Ahl Al-Sham initiative and the Red Crescent team, organized an event for the mothers of children with disabilities on the IDPD, which falls on the 3rd of December of each year. The event included activities aimed at introducing the mothers to the rights of children with disabilities in the Syrian Law through the legal adviser Reem Salman.
Khalil noted the need to develop the capacities of persons with disabilities by providing care, support and an appropriate environment to show their abilities and talents, so that they can be active members in society.
The volunteers of Ahl Al-Sham initiative reviewed the services targeting all segments of society, including children and people with disabilities.
