DPRK Issues Combat Readiness Order In Response to Seoul’s Military Provocations

Pyongyang (ST) – In response to Seoul’s military provocations, the General Staff Department (GSD) of the Korean People’s Army issued an emergency combat readiness order and an urgent directive to strengthen surveillance for military units at all levels, including front-line artillery units.

The Korean Central News Agency quoted GSD’s spokesman as saying in a statement: “Today, the enemy fired artillery shells from multiple rocket launchers and howitzers in the frontline areas.” He added that the artillery units in the front lines were ordered to fire live shells into the sea to give a severe warning.

The spokesman stressed the need for South Korea to stop its military provocations immediately.

Pyongyang has warned on more than one occasion that it will respond decisively to the provocative military movements of the United States and South Korea on the Korean Peninsula, while Washington and Seoul insist on holding repeated military exercises in the region.
