Russian Diplomat: The West’s  ignoring of Russia’s warnings may lead to transfer of confrontation to space

Head of the Russian Douma Committee for International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky, confirmed that the West’s involvement in the Ukrainian crisis and its ignorance of Russia’s warnings may lead to the transfer of military confrontation to space.

Russia Today quoted Slutsky as saying on Telegram: “Civilian commercial satellites that carry out purely combat missions can also become legitimate targets for destruction.”

“The Russian Foreign Ministry warned against this recently, and if the West continues to ignore Russian warnings as it disregards our security demands before the start of our military operation in Ukraine, this may lead to the transfer of the military confrontation to space.”

He pointed out that the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has information about the West’s use of satellites to transfer data to the Ukrainian forces, in a flagrant violation of international agreements to prevent militarization of space.
