The founding meeting of the Syrian Information Technology Companies Forum kicks off

Damascus (ST): The founding meeting of the Syrian Information Technology Companies Forum (SHAMS), which was held at the headquarters of the Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics, focused on identifying the objectives of the forum and its mechanism of action, discussing the draft of its work system prepared by the preparation committee of the association, and launching the information services platform (Backlink).

During the meeting, they discussed the importance of establishing the forum, the increasing need for information technology products and services in the public and private sectors, and their expansion by foreign companies in the local market, especially friendly Russian and Iranian companies, and the growth of external demand for products that are manufactured locally by Syrian hands, in addition to empowering information technology institutions  to promote joint ventures among themselves.

In a statement to news reporter, the association’s council member and secretary, Dr. Kadan Juma, indicated that the forum adopts a cooperative structure that enhances the principle of participatory and fair competition between companies working in the field of information technology.

For his part, a member of the board of directors of the association and a member of the preparation committee for the forum, Mahmoud Elias, explained that the information services platform (Backlink) launched by the association is currently a mobile application, and work is underway to develop a web version of it and aims to gather those who wish to work in the field of information technology.
