Damascus (ST): The Palestinian Embassy in Damascus held a reception on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People at Dama Rose Hotel.
The Palestinian ambassador to Damascus, Samir Al-Rifai, in his speech, stressed that the commemoration of this memory in Syria is of a special nature, because the Palestinians are not guests, and they never were. Jerusalem and Damascus are twins, and history testifies to that.
Ambassador Al-Rifai pointed out that the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which was approved by the United Nations General Assembly in 1977, is an implicit recognition by the international organization of its impotence and the historical injustice that befell this people, and as a reminder that the Palestinian cause is still unresolved and that the Palestinian people are still suffering from division and the Nakba, affirming their historical right in Palestine.
For her part, the Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mshaweh, affirmed in her speech that solidarity with the Palestinian people is a stand with oneself and with history and a retrieval of a history in which an entire people were oppressed, their land was usurped, their rights were violated, and they were displaced, scattered and fragmented in all parts of the earth.
Dr. Mshaweh pointed out that Syria, which embraced everyone and did not hesitate to open its arms to every Arab, first of all the Palestinians, paid the price for its stand on the side of the Palestinian cause in blood, money, siege, war and terrorism, stressing that Syria will remain steadfast in support and solidarity with the Palestinian people.
In a statement , the Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, affirmed that  steadfast Syria that fought terrorism, and that is fighting today all kinds of colonialists from the Israeli to the Turkish to the American, represents the conscience of this nation, stressing that “the future belongs to us and to Palestine.
