Al-Hallaq:  Syrian drama creative  throughout its history!

Damascus, (ST) – The meeting of the Minister of Information, Dr. Boutros Al-Hallaq, with a number of screenwriters focused on a number of issues related to the production of drama and dramatic texts. It also focused on  the obstacles facing screenwriters’ work, and trying to find solutions to these obstacles.

During the meeting held yesterday at the invitation of the Film and Television Industry Committee, Al-Hallaq stressed that the Ministry of Information is doing its best to support the drama industry in general, and that the outcome of this pours its results in the script industry. He added that there are many creative writers with their ideas and works, and that the state of creativity requires the existence of a collective initiative.

Al-Hallaq pointed to the  cooperation between the Ministry of Information, the Film Industry Committee, the Artists Syndicate, and the Ministry of Culture, which resulted in the beginning of its outputs, the establishment of a formula called the “National Committee for Drama.”  He said that this committee is not in charge of the drama industry or a substitute for the Artists Syndicate or the Film Industry Committee, but it has a participatory relationship with what is raised on the subject of drama.

The Minister of Information confirmed that the Syrian drama throughout its history has been  creative drama, which was exposed during the war years to difficult circumstances, such as the emigration of many of its creators, but there is great optimism for the return of these people  to Syria. He stressed that our country is able to advance again in the drama industry.

The participants in the meeting presented proposals centered on the need for an official body to adopt the writers of dramatic texts and protect their rights. At the same time, they called for the establishment of an association for screenwriters and to submit a working paper to find appropriate solutions to the problems facing their work.
