TEHRAN, (ST) _ China and Iran renewed yesterday their support for the political process and a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria and underlined the need to combat terrorism and extremism and not to legitimize the armed terrorist forces fighting in Syria.
The Iranian news agency (IRNA) said that the Iranian Foreign Ministry secretary Mortadi Sarmadi and Chinese State Councilor Yang Jie Ji stressed during their talks in Beijing yesterday their opposition to the use of extremist forces as a tool and the need to combat terrorism and extremism and prevent giving legitimacy to the forces of terror, renewing support for the political process to resolve the crisis in Syria.
Sarmadi underlined Iran ‘s foreign policy priorities as to maintain international and regional cooperation between Iran and China to establish peace and stability in Asia and the world, pointing out that the orientations of the Iranian government is to cooperate with world countries and enhance best relations between Tehran and Beijing and finding future prospects for these relations.
He expressed hope that the new round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the group of five plus one will be held in a cooperative atmosphere to proceed forward and eliminate problems.
For his part, Yang stressed the need to address the Iranian nuclear issue in a peaceful manner and praised Iran ‘s good intentions and constructive approaches to resolve the issue, stressing his country’s support for a policy of non – interference in the affairs of others and opposition to unilateral or a multi-faceted sanctions against Iran.
The Chinese official pointed out that his country ‘s policy emphasizes continued friendly relations with Iran at high levels , describing Tehran ‘s vision towards the east as positive .
