Syria condemns the arbitrary decision that Washington and Western countries take against Iran in the Human Rights Council

Damascus, (ST) –  The Syrian Arab Republic condemned the arbitrary decision that the United States of America and Western countries have taken against the Islamic Republic of Iran at an emergency meeting of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

This came during a phone call made by Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, with Dr. Hossein Amir Abdullahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Minister Miqdad said during the call that Syria confirms that such arbitrary and unacceptable decisions reflect the continuous approach taken by Western countries against independent countries, with the aim of implementing their subversive goals in the developing countries of the world.

Miqdad indicated that the decision, the one which Western countries exerted pressure and blackmail on some member states of the Human Rights Council to take, represents a direct violation of the sovereignty and stability of states and their right to pursue policies that are appropriate to the history, customs and traditions of their peoples.

During the call, Al-Miqdad expressed the solidarity of the Syrian government and people with the government and people of Iran, who expressed their rejection of the provocations and false slogans that circulated during the recent riots in Iran.

For his part, Abdollahian praised Syria’s solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran and its people. He indicated that the Iranian people, through its response to the riots, affirmed its faith in its revolution and in the role played by Iran internally and externally to confront all Western conspiracies against it, whether in its nuclear file or its defense of the basic rights of its people. .

At the end of the phone call, Al-Miqdad and AbdAllahian stressed the importance of the Human Rights Council’s commitment to its mandate and not to politicize human rights and use them as a means to cut off people’s aspirations in the face of Western policies.
