Al-Quds International Foundation honors the winners of its literary and artistic awards for the year 2022

On November 28thAl-Quds International Foundation, in cooperation with the Arab Writers Union, honored the winners of the Al-Quds Award for Literary and Artistic Creativity 2022, in the Al-Assad National Library in Damascus. 

In the (Jerusalem Prize for Literary Creativity) in the field of poetry, the first prize was jointly won by Zaher Jamil Qat from Syria for the poem “Mirrors of Lovers” and Omar Sabeeka from Tunisia for the poem “Imagination of Water”. 

In the field of fiction, Muhammad al-Taher from Syria won the first prize jointly for the novel “The Guardians of the City” and Iman ZuhdiAbu Nima from Palestine for the novel “The Pulse of Restrictions.” 

As for the story , the first prize was jointly won by Faiza Daoud from Syria for the story “Memory of Al-Bayad” and Sawsan Sharif from Egypt for the story “Maqamat”. 

As for the Jerusalem Award for Youth Creativity in the field of poetry, the first prize was won by Qais Al-Hussein for the text “Bloody Palms”, and in the field of the story, the first prize went to Faisal Ghazi Al-Khattab for “The Travel of Cities and Tears”. 

In the field of fiction, the first prize was won by Yara Mansour for “Letters Forbidden by the Gods,” and in the field of thoughts, Suleiman Hamoudi, for “Part of a Lost Age.” 

In the field of the Jerusalem Prize for Fine Art, it was awarded to the artist Osama Amasha for his painting “The Key to Jerusalem.” 

The jury included the poet TawfiqAhmed and the writer Falak Husria, and the Secretary of the Plastic Artists Union, Ghassan Ghanem

The competition jury praised the artworks of Salem Akkawi for his painting “Jerusalem is Ours” and Salim Nofal for his painting “Jerusalem is Civilization.”

The Director General of the International Al-Quds Foundation in Syria, Dr. Khalaf Al-Muftah, said in his speech: This competition indicates that Jerusalem, which symbolizes Palestine, is in our hearts and cannot be abandoned.” 

He added: All that we do is support the culture of resistance and its approach until liberation.

In turn, the Director General of Al-Quds Foundation, Yassin Hammoud, stated in his speech that Jerusalem resides in our minds, hearts, literature, colors and feathers, and it is our inspiration as Arabs to start, continue and win in our cause aimed at the liberation of Palestine. 

The head of the Arab Writers Union, Dr. Muhammad al-Hourani, stated that this competition comes in cooperation between more than one party that cares about the Palestinian cause and confront the challenges facing Palestine, with the aim of restoring the cultural brilliance of the confrontation

Head of Support for Fair Trial and Human Rights Abdul Hamid Dashti pointed out the need to support these competitions that seek to support the Palestinian cause until we reach a cultural celebration on the land of Palestine. 

The ceremony, which was held in cooperation between the National Union of Syrian Students and the Union of Fine Artists, was attended by the Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Al-Quds International Foundation, Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Basil Jadaan, the Palestinian Ambassador to Damascus, Dr. Samir Al-Rifai, the Yemeni Ambassador to Damascus, Abdullah Sabri, and the Chairman of the People’s Committee. 

The Syrian Arab Supreme Council for Supporting the Palestinian People, Dr. Saber Falhout, a number of leaders and representatives of the Palestinian factions, the head of the Plastic Artists Union, Irfan Abu al-ShamatMuhammad, members of the executive office of the Arab Writers Union, the representative of the Student Union Omar al-Jibai and a crowd of intellectuals, writers, and media professionalsalso attended the ceremony.
