Tehran, (ST) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani affirmed that the decision to form a fact-finding commission in Iran on human rights is politicized, and that his country will not cooperate with it.
Kanaani stated in his weekly press conference on Monday that the use of the United Nations Human Rights Council as a tool against independent countries is unacceptable and condemnable, and does not contribute to the advancement of human rights. “Therefore, Iran will fulfill its national responsibilities in this regard, but will not cooperate with the political committee calling itself the ‘Fact-Finding Committee’, he added.
Kanani stressed that Western governments, especially the Americans, are playing a role in provoking the riots inside Iran.
On the other hand, Kanaani stressed that Iran’s consistent policy with neighboring countries is based on mutual respect, common interests, and maintaining security and peace.
Regarding the latest developments related to the Vienna negotiations, Kanaani stated that Europe is not committed to the negotiations, and is not independent in these negotiations, especially regarding the comprehensive joint action plan that has taken decisions in line with the US administration.
