Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that there were no more than two Russian diplomats left in some countries that were not friendly to Russia after the special military operation in Donbass.
Sputnik quoted Zakharova as saying on Saturday: “We are mainly talking about the countries of the European Union and those countries that we declared unfriendly. They have practically reduced our diplomatic presence, and there are countries where there are only one or two Russian diplomats.”
Zakharova noted that the work of Russian diplomats abroad is extremely important, because they support Russian citizens and organizations and help maintain economic relations.
Zakharova noted that there are people who have been building economic relations with Russia for decades, but they are really suffering from what they see happening in their country with regard to Russia.
The European leaders have brought the European Union to an energy crisis through their policies, Zakharova said, noting that the leaders of European countries must now convince their citizens that what happened is “in their interest and a test of democracy.”
