17 medals for the Syrian Karate team at the end of the West Asian Championship

On November 26th, the Syrian Karate team won 17 various medals “5 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze” in its participation in the West Asian Championship for men, women, young men and women, male and female juniors in the United Arab Emirates.

On the closing day, our team won “3 golds, 4 silvers, and 6 bronzes.” The golds came through Kholoud Ali weighing over 68 kg for the over-18-years category, and Mays Qara Falah weighing under 55 kg for the under-21s category, and another gold for the same player for the under-18s category.

While the silver medals came through Wissam Abu Mahmoud for the weight of under 75 kg in the category of under 21 years, and another silver for him in the same weight for the category over 18 years, and OlfaBrmbo in the individual kata for the category over 18 years, and our women’s team won the silver in team fighting.

The bronze medals were won by Qais Gharawi, two bronze medals in the under-21 category under 67 kg and the same weight for the over 18-year category, MajdSelkan for the under-21 category over 84 kg, and another for the over 18-year category, and AboWakim Wade’ under 55 kg for the over 18-year category.

On the first day of the tournament, our team won two gold medals through two players, Maria Al-Halawi, weighing under 42 kg for the U-14 category, and Layal Salman, weighing over 48 kg for the U-14 category, and a silver medal for Abdul Karim Al-Halawi, weighing under 63 kg for the U-16 category, while Samir Al-Kabbani won a bronze medal under 68 kg for the U-18 category.

The teams of Syria, Bahrain, Lebanon, the Sultanate of Oman, Palestine, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, the UAE and Saudi Arabia participated in the Championship.
