Al-Baath University Participates in The Sharm el-Sheikh Dialogue Session on Climate Change

Due to the important role played by universities in achieving the sustainable development goals in relation to the protection of the Earth and its climate as the greatest challenges facing States in the current era, Dr. Lina Al-Naddaf of Al-Baath University participated in the interactive session held in Sharm el-Sheikh via Online entitled (Climate action through innovation and implementation… Comprehensive multi-level governance).

Dr. Al-Naddaf’s participation was in response to the invitation of the Energy and Resources Institute of India and complemented her participation in the World Summit on Sustainable Development held last February.

Al-Naddaf confirmed to SANA that the session came within a series of meetings and sessions invited by the Energy and Resources Institute of India, all of which she attended as a call for action by all countries to protect the planet and provide a framework that enables governments, partnerships and civil society to work together to build a better future for all and to develop rapid and more inclusive sustainable solutions that promote environmental, social and economic aspects of reconstruction.

She mentioned that the meeting raised solutions to a range of questions, most notably, what innovations would lead to urgent, swift and wide-ranging measures in climate change mitigation and adaptation, what perfect shifts were required from different countries at the political, social, cultural and environmental levels associated with climate change, taking into account the forthcoming global assessment process, how multi-level governance approaches involving individuals, communities, institutions, governments and markets could be strengthened, and how local solutions could be promoted.

The Energy and Resources Institute of India (Centre for Global Energy Policy), Columbia University (Institute of Energy Economics of Japan), International Alliance of Indigenous and Tribal Peoples of Tropical Forests, President of Zainab Women’s Development Organization of Sudan participated in the session.
