On November 21st, the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, headed by Dr. Ayman Soussan, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, arrived in the Kazakh capital, Astana.
The delegation will participate in the 19thinternational two-day meeting on Syria which will start tomorrow.
The delegation will hold several meetings with a number of participating delegations.
The meetings will focus on the developments in the situation in Syria, the efforts exerted to combat terrorism, the consolidation of stability, and the negative repercussions of the illegal coercive measures imposed by the United States and European countries, whether on the living and humanitarian situation or on hindering the reconstruction process.
The Kazakh Foreign Ministry announced in a statement that the delegation of the Russian Federation headed by Alexander Lavrentiev, the Russian President’s special envoy to Syria, and the Iranian delegation headed by Assistant Foreign Minister Ali Asghar Khaji will participate in the meeting, in addition to delegations from other countries.
On June 15th and 16th, Kazakhstan hosted the 18th round of the international meeting on Syria in the Astana format, where the guarantor countries affirmed in their final statement their determination to continue working to combat terrorism in all its forms, stand against separatist agendas and condemn terrorist attacks targeting civilian facilities in Syria.
