On the sidelines of the Climate Conference in Sharm El-Sheikh, Syrian-Iraqi discussions to confront climate change

Sharm El Sheikh (ST): The Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Eng. Hussein Makhlouf, discussed with the Iraqi Minister of Environment, Dr. Jassem Abdel Aziz Hammadi, ways to enhance cooperation in the field of environment to confront climate change, dust storms, desertification and water scarcity.

During his meeting with Hammadi on the sidelines of participation in the 27th Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Sharm El-Sheikh, Makhlouf stressed the importance of joint action, through projects financed by climate change funds and coordinating positions regarding international climate action.

For his part, the Iraqi minister drew attention to the importance of bilateral cooperation in the field of environment to limit climate change, explaining that it was agreed to follow up on bilateral meetings during participation in the climate conference in order to reach work on the ground.

Makhlouf also discussed with the President of the World Green Economy Organization, Dr. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the possibility of cooperation and possible steps to move forward in the environmental field.
