Damascus (ST): The Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman in Damascus Turki bin Mahmoud al-Busaidi affirmed that Omani-Syrian relations are based on solid principles, and are based on mutual respect and common interests.
On the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the Sultanate of Oman’s National Day, Al-Busaidi said in a statement that the visions of the leaderships of the two brotherly countries stress the importance of continuing the diligent work to develop and expand aspects of bilateral relations for the common benefit.
Al-Busaidi stressed that the continued exchange of official delegations is evidence of the permanent keenness and sincere desire of the two countries to achieve more progress on bilateral cooperation tracks, pointing out that the establishment of the Joint Business Council reflects the seriousness of seeking to expand the circle of cooperation, enhance the role of the private sector, and benefit from its capabilities in developing economic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Syria.
He added that there are many cooperation and partnership agreements between Muscat and Damascus in the cultural, educational, health, navigational and other aspects, and that work is underway with the aim of activating them and benefiting from them in a way that makes the private sector in the two countries a real player in exchanging benefits and experiences and investing in available opportunities.
With regard to investment in Syria, Ambassador Al-Busaidi said: The Syrian market is diverse and rich, and it is a fertile environment for investment and attracting capital.
The ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman in Damascus confirmed that there are a number of Omani investors interested in studying the investment environment in the commercial, industrial and tourism sectors and that many of them are waiting for the right conditions to work, which will allow the flow of foreign capital to contribute to recovery and reconstruction projects.
