Speaker hold talks with Brazil’s ambassador in Damascus on parliamentary relations

DAMASCUS, Nov.15, (ST)-Speaker of People’s Assembly [Parliament] ,Hammouda Sabbagh on Tuesday discussed with André Santos, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Brazil the importance of the constant work on developing the bilateral relations in all fields.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the two sides talked about the need to boost the parliamentary relations through exchanging visits and enhancing cooperation between the PA in Syria and Brazilian Federal Senate and the Chamber of Deputies (National Congress) forb the interest of the two friendly peoples.

Sabbagh referred to the deeply-rooted historic ties between the two countries and their peoples as well as the vital role of the Syrian community in Brazil to further cement these relations.

He urged Ambassador Santos to convey the real situation in Syria to the public opinion in his country, highlighting the terrorist war and negative impacts of coercive unilateral measures imposed on the Syrian people.

Sabbagh also called for intensifying exchanged visits to promote mutual relations, wishing the new Ambassador success in his mission as an Ambassador to Syria since last September.

For his part, Ambassador Santos, underscored the need to strengthen mutual ties, especially the parliamentary one.

He in addition hailed the outstanding role of the Syrian community for decades in Brazil in developing different vital sectors there.
