Medvedev: Washington should recompense the damage inflicted many countries

Washington (ST) – Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, called on the United Nations to adopt a resolution requiring the United States to provide full recompense for the damage it has inflicted on other countries.

Commenting on the UN voting on establishing a mechanism for the reparation of damage done by Russia to Ukraine, Medvedev said: “The Anglo-Saxons are obviously seeking to scrape up a legal basis for stealing illegally arrested Russian assets”.

“It looks like the beginning of the United Nations’ agony as a key international institution for reconciliation”, he stressed. “The end will be painful for the entire international community. We will do without such a ‘united nations’ organization.”

In turn, Russian State Duma member, Oleg Morozov, stressed that the General Assembly does not have the authority to solve the problem of reparations, and Russia will return Ukraine that was destroyed by the Nazis, but it will not pay reparationsto the Kiev regime.

Morozov added: “This decision is an attempt to legalize money theft from Russian’ citizens by manipulating the votes of UN member states.” He stressed that the West plans to use Russia’s frozen assets under the pretext of compensating damage inflicted on Ukraine.

The emergency session of the United Nations General Assembly on Monday passed a resolution on establishing an international register of damage allegedly inflicted on Ukraine by Russia and recognizing the need for a loss reparation mechanism, which Russia completely rejected.
