Vershinin discusses with al-Jaafari the situation in Syria and the region
Moscow (ST): Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin discussed with the Syrian ambassador to Moscow, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, the situation in Syria and the region, and the continuous coordination between the two countries.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement today that the meeting stressed the need for international action in Syria to comply with international legal rules, leading to the lifting of unilateral economic measures and the reconstruction of civil infrastructure projects of urgent importance.
The statement pointed out that the meeting also stressed the necessity that the core of the political process led and implemented by the Syrians themselves with the support of the United Nations is respect for the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic.
