Zakharova: The European Union is completely undermining its economy to please America

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced today her country’s readiness to discuss ways out of the crisis in relations with the European Union, stressing that any proposals in this framework must take into account the situation on the ground.
Russia Today website quoted Zakharova as saying in a press statement: It seems that the European Union is completely undermining its economy to please the United States, noting that calls for dialogue and negotiations between Moscow and Kiev must be accompanied by concrete steps, but there are no real efforts in this direction.
Zakharova added that all EU measures, including the provision of the military assistance program to the Kyiv regime, are aimed at escalation, not de-escalation and the search for a political solution, considering that Washington’s constant follow-up does not allow EU countries to pursue an independent foreign policy focused on ensuring the interests of EU citizens.
The Russian official pointed to the fact that the Europeans were “fed up with the rhetoric of permanent confrontation and baseless accusations against Russia,” adding: The demand for an end to the conflict in Ukraine and the achievement of internal stability in the EU member states is increasing more and more.
Zakharova stressed that “talking about new sanctions or regular calls to punish Russia economically is already more frightening for the Europeans themselves who are suffering from cold, unemployment and lack of prospects.
